没有搞懂B选项和C选项？

Which of the following statments about  random variable  is least likely correct?

选项：

A.

The number of books a student owns is a discrete random variable.

B.

The temperature of Shanghai is a discrete random variable.

C.

The number of sunny days next year in Shanghai is a discrete random variable.

解释：

B is correct.

Discrete random variables is the number of possible outcomes can be counted.

temperature is continuous and cannot be counted, therefore it is not a discrete random variable.

同学你好，

discrete random variable的可能结果是可以去数的，例如C选项里，明年上海有阳光的天数并不确定有几天，但是可以去数。如果明年一共365天，则结果从有0天到有365天都有可能。

continuous random variable的可能结果是数不了的，例如温度，可能变化的无比之细，可以增加0.1度，0.01度，0.0000000001度，以此类推，如果不添加人为的限制，温度是根本没法去数的。所以B选项描述错误。

另一个continuous random variable的例子是rate of return，可以增加0.1%，0.01%，0.0000000001%，也没法数。

discrete random variable和continuous random variable的严格数学定义其实比以上文字描述要复杂的多，但没有必要去深究数学，把出现的题目做会，和记忆（主要是continuous random variable）例子就可以了。
