请问如果convexity越高,portfolio具有涨多跌少的性质,为什么structural risk还越大呢?

单看债券投资,Convexity是提供债券涨多跌少的好处。

也就是说,一般在做主动管理时,如果预测收益率曲线波动加大,那么相同条件下,Convexity更大的债券,其表现会更好。


但是在做Matching liability时,我们追求的目标不是享受Convexity带来的涨多跌少的好处,而是尽可能地使得资产的变动和负债的变动相Match,使得资产能够匹配负债。

在做Match liability时,资产的Convexity越大,匹配时Structural risk越大,即在收益率曲线非平行移动时,资产不能匹配负债的风险越大。

为了降低Match liability时,不匹配的情况,就需要尽可能的降低资产的Convexity。

也就是说,Convexity虽然有涨多跌少的好处,但是在Duration matching时,不需要这个好处,convexity过大反而会带来风险(Structural risk)。


在matching时,其实就是想让资产能够模拟负债,资产和负债的特性越接近,资产模拟负债的情况越好。所以我们以负债的数据为Benchmark,尽可能地让资产的数据与负债的数据相接近。

比如,在做单期负债匹配时,负债是零息债券,因此其Convexity值在Duration一定的情况下最小,所以我们就要求了资产的Convexity尽可能的小。

而在做多期负债匹配时,我们要求资产的Convexity值在大于Liability convexity值的基础上,又尽可能的降低资产的Convexity,实际上就是在要求资产的Convexity数据足够地贴近负债的Convexity数据。
