通常我们认为事前的长期项目（基建改造一类的），属于气候缓释。事后采用的中短期项目属于其后适应。但确实这个界定有的时候是有点模棱两可，所以建议记住讲义中的例子。

尽可能温和和可管理​ (MIT Climate Portal)​。

与之相对，气候变化适应指的是帮助人们调整到当前和未来气候变化的影响。这包括改变我们的行为、系统和生活方式，以保护我们的家庭、经济和我们生活的环境免受气候变化的影响。适应措施因地制宜，旨在建立或改造基础设施（如提高防洪系统），采用自然解决方案（如恢复湿地以缓冲飓风影响），或通过行为和政策变化（如转向能更好应对温暖季节和干旱的新粮食作物）来应对气候变化的影响。
