1、LIFO reserve就是将LIFO下的库存调整成FIFO下的库存的差额。

LIFO reserve是FIFO下的Inventory值 - LIFO下的Inventory值。

同学的问题需要加一个假设，即在物价上涨的情况LIFO reserve 下降就是 LIFO liquidation。

假设库存增多的情况下，由于进货额一样，但是LIFO 用的是大的COGS，FIFO 用的是小的COGS，所以到年末，LIFO和FIFO之间的库存的差异应该是越来越大，不可能使LIFO reserve 变小

如果变小的话，就只能是我们在挖以前便宜的成本，也就是LIFO liquidation，就有问题了

当物价上涨，使用LIFO时，后进来的存货先出去，所以COGS会更大，此时公司如果不希望COGS偏大，它就会购买少于销售量的存货，比如销售了100件存货，但只购入40件，这样一来，有60件的成本就按之前先购入的价格比较低的存货来计算，所以也叫“挖过去的存货”。因此COGS下降的假象。
