In the clean surplus relation:
earnings - dividend is defined as retained earnings. I am wondering if retained earnings is the same thing as residual income... it shouldn't be right?

Residual income = Net income(t) - Re*BV（t-1)
而Retained Earnings = Net income - dividend
从公式就可以看出两者是不一样的
从意义上说，Residual income是指公司运营一年获得的收益超过股东要求的回报的部分
而Retained earnings则是公司运营一年后获得收益后，公司董事会根据未来的运营需要决定分红的金额后，剩下的部分
retained earnings一般是公司用来补充来年运营所需资金的重要来源之一，而residual income则不是董事会决定的，大小也不受董事会的控制
